The question about immediate gratification is very much connected to achieving. And this means gratification by either a parent or by the individual you've hired to be a substitute parent. If you look at what it takes to really accomplish, there always a period of time where you're somewhat out of your comfort zone. You don't get immediate gratification. You go into a class and it's difficult at first but you don't drop out, you stay with it and suddenly you begin to understand. And the real concern that I have with powerful parents, with an overindulgence of people servicing a child, is that we don't have delayed gratification. And so when they can't get what they want immediately, whether is physically or intellectually, they go, they stop. They don't stay with the task long enough to become accomplished and I am very concerned that it is achievement that builds self-esteem. And so the only way that you can achieve is to have to go through periods of time where you very often step outside a comfort zone. People that start companies, will often report that it was years before they ever felt comfortable. They were anxious and worried for many, many years before the company got successful. But the key was they didn't give up. They were able to sort of hang out with that discomfort, stay with the task and then have the really delicious reward of being successful. So it is very important to delay gratification.
